Are you experiencing Stress or Anxiety? Learn how to take control of your body through heart breathing utilizing biofeedback.
Our goal with Life Enhancing Aptitudes and Performance through Stress mitigation (LEAPS) is to teach you how to balance your autonomic nervous system and manage stress in your life through Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measurements and heart breathing.
During the session, you will be introduced to the two non-invasive sensors that will help in measuring how your body responds to a paced breathing session. One will go on a finger, the other around your rib cage.
During your first meeting, we will do a simple assessment that will have you stand or sit for 5 minutes, followed by a change of position to sitting or lying down for 5 minutes followed by a coached breathing measurement for 5 minutes. This will allow a good measurement to see how your body is currently performing under stress. We will briefly go over your results, identify potential stressors and identify coping mechanisms that you can utilize in your everyday life. Each session following will build on your previous, measuring the progress you have made in each session. On average most clients attend 1x a week, for around 5 weeks, after their 5th session it becomes a maintenance visit around 1x a month.

As a Licensed Recreational Therapist, I create a personalized plan to enhance the skills you have to deal with daily stressors through heart breathing, and 1:1 heart rate variability.
After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Recreational Therapy, I was offered the opportunity to continue with my Masters Degree in Recreational Therapy Administration. From there, I took a Graduate Assistantship with the Center for Applied Psychophysiology.
This is where I gained experience working with Veterans and helping others learn to manage stress. I have also worked with individuals with disabilities, active adults in the community and residents in a retirement community.
After the last 2 years that we all have had, I am excited to offer an opportunity for people to gain confidence and learn skills to help manage their daily stressors.
