Lindsey Knapp, Founder
Lindsey is an Attorney, Army Veteran, and has been a staunch advocate for the LGBTQ population for years. After the repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, Lindsey helped her peers apply for discharge upgrades for those who were kicked out of the military for their sexual orientation. And when Transgender Service Members were first allowed to openly serve, Lindsey was right there helping train the force on how to properly address these Service Members needs while educating leadership. So when her kiddo came out as transgender, Lindsey’s first move was to find ways to support her pint sized human. Thus, the LGBTQ Resource Center began. What began as a kids hangout for other LGBTQ Youth quickly blossomed to a whole community of affirming and supportive humans as Dixie came on board and took this little project to the next level.

I am a proud, passionate member and advocate of the LGBTQ+ community ready to provide you with a warm, welcome to a safe space to be yourself. Unfortunately, I know first hand how difficult it can be to not be accepted for who you are and work hard to create the change I wish to see in the world. I'm also the Director of Rainbow Rescue & Retreat an LGBTQ+ retreat and animal sanctuary, our rescue animals often accompany me to our events. In addition to my love of animals, I enjoy plants, baking and cooking for others, and all things nerdy.
I'm so excited to meet you and share, grow, and support this community!
