Your posture and movement have been compensating for a long time. This is because you are influenced by all your lived traumas, physically and mentally.
You adapt to those experiences the most comfortable way you know how which causes you to move with less ease.
Rolfing Structural Integration is gentle bodywork and movement re-education that reorganizes your whole connective system from head to toe. It is safe and the main effect is feeling some freedom under your own skin.
The approach is simple and each session is custom to you.
All this is all done without causing you more pain!
Ever feel like you could stand a little straighter?
Do you dislike holding your shoulders back all the time?
Wish there was a simple approach to relieving pain?
There is no better time to get you back into your own body.
The pain or discomfort you’ve been trying to get rid of is most likely caused by imbalances throughout your entire structure, not just where the symptoms are.
Rolfing allows your body to reorient to your center of gravity the best way it knows how. Your movements become more easier because you now have a stable base.
A realigned body will have more energy! This also gives us freedom to DO more. People at every age report typically feeling much younger and happier.
The muscles in your body are not the only focus during a session. Fascial work includes creating more availability for your veins, nerves, bones and viscera in addition to all your muscles.
Rolfing relieves the body of soft tissue restrictions which may pull the bones out of place and create pain. It does not overstimulate the nervous system and there is no endless treatment plan.
Structure doesn't work without function and vice versa. How we orient to move is not addressed through exercise alone. Rolfing updates our body map and we get a clearer perception and experience of sensation.
Dr. Ida Rolf developed a "recipe" known as the Ten-Series™. The goal of these 10 sessions is to help get you out of pain quickly and move easier without overstimulating you.
Each session invites a new possibility of moving as it relates to your specific design; compounded affects occur with consecutive session. You will learn new ways of integrating with every visit.
Sessions 1-3 are considered the "sleeve" or superficial sessions. Even if your issue is deep, you cannot move freely if your outermost shell is tight. We work around the ribs, shoulders, hips and feet allowing easier movement. We work towards specific goals as your body map gets clearer.
Sessions 4-7 are the "core" sessions. Core simply means a deeper affected change. Think of the core less as an anatomical place and more as a functional way to keep us from falling down under a demand. We seek to lengthen the spine from the hips to the head.
Sessions 7-10+ are considered "integration" sessions. While integration is a key component to every session, full integration is like the icing on the cake. You should leave this series feeling amazing and you may even have a new outlook on life. We make sure your body map is clear and that you know how to move with it. Once completed, the wisdom of the Rolfing Ten Series will drive and support the body with health for years to come.
After completion of the 10-Series, you should notice feeling lighter or just moving easier. Over time you may feel as if old habits are starting to creep back. Or new symptoms are coming up. We can address anything with as little as 1-3 sessions. Most clients return for a tune up session in approximately 3 months. Remember that Rolf Movement is also a great way to quickly integrate and also gives you tools to use at home.
Appointments are one-on-one and last 75 minutes. Cost is $150. This hands on and guided movement approach addresses fascial restrictions that are keeping you in pain. Clients find relief from trauma and feel taller, lighter, and sometimes younger. While you may experience some discomfort you should never feel pain during a session.
