Our nervous system is wired like branches of tree. And when we experience a traumatic event, those branches get pruned. But those branches can regrow. We work with each client individually to create the conditions for regrowth without having to talk about the event that created this disruption in the first place.
Many of our clients are battling PTSD following years of military service and/or sexual assault. They express that counseling alone wasn’t making them "whole," and felt like there was a piece that they were missing.
As we process Trauma through the Mind, we also have to process it through the body. And each body is different, so how do you even know where to start?
That's were we come in!
We meet with each client and help them create a map to recovery that takes into account their specific needs and experiences. This compliments traditional talk therapy and offers a prescription of wholistic modalities that are curated to YOU.
After the initial session and assessment, the client will be given a roadmap to aid in their recovery. Subsequent sessions can be scheduled to help fine tune the plan, or to incorporate some of the recommended modalities.
It takes a lot of courage to embark on this journey, and we are honored to guide you through this process. Its hard to take the first step, but we are standing by to answer any questions that you may have.
Who better to guide you through this work than someone who has walked through the fire themselves?
Lindsey has been working with survivors of sexual assault/domestic violence for more than 20 years. She has helped hundreds of clients through this process, and is trained to help build a program that works for you.
Lindsey Knapp is the founder and Executive Director of Combat Sexual Assault, a nonprofit organization that empowers survivors of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) by helping them overcome barriers to obtaining justice. As an Attorney, Army Veteran, Chair of the Military & Veterans Women’s Coalition, Warriors at Ease Trained Yoga Instructor, and survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence, Lindsey brings more than 20 years of professional experience to this field.
She began her career at Northern Illinois University, where she was responsible for training more than 20,000 incoming Freshmen every year on the risks of sexual assault, and the resources available to them. From there, she joined the military where she advocated of Active Duty Service Members after they experienced sexual violence. Her progress in the military laid the groundwork for what was later formally established into the Army’s Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program.
After leaving service, she continued her work in the civilian sector as a Victim Advocate on Fort Bragg.
But after discovering that the military was systematically covering up rape, she formed Combat Sexual Assault so that she could provide legal counsel to those who were being retaliated against for reporting. At Combat Sexual Assault, Lindsey addresses these issues, all while helping her clients find their voice.
In addition to all that, she runs Sanford Yoga & Community Center where she offers trauma informed modalities to the community. She also runs PTSD Retreats with the Operation Redwing Foundation, and champions for our LGBTQ Community with the only LGBTQ Resource Center in our area.
She knows what works because not only has she done the work herself, but she's guided hundreds of amazing humans to the other side. Schedule an appointment with her today and see how she can create a program for YOU!
It's time to take care of YOU!
